Let’s look at the blue iteration in Release 1. When planning the iteration, break the user stories into technical tasks and estimate each in hours or points. Planning poker is an easy and fun technique, but also very powerful in revealing problems and possible solutions.
We now have a sprint backlog. I like to have the sprint backlog on a real physical board. So I put the stories and tasks onto the board, for the team to use and discuss.
During the iteration, the tasks will move into the Done column, completing the user story.
